God's Rebel Sons

Maybe you don't know
Maybe you were never told
But God, oh
How he loves his rebel sons!

Poetic, bohemian, 21st Century
Samurai soul with a devilish grin
Angel's wings singed by the flames
Hard rock & broken ballad lullabies
You're you & I'm me;
It's all free will baby
&
I wouldn't have it any other way!

Cruising long lonely highways
Or parked by the pond in the woods
It's a breathtaking sunrise, as the moon sinks low
All in the eye of those beholden to beauty, truth, & love
A long mile from perfect; I'll be the first to say;
At times I drink too much
Sometimes my mind is too far away
I forget to live & I forget the words that matter
But with my radio on I've never forgotten
A single word to sing; take it from the heart
Hit the ground running & don't ever stop
'Cause were God's rebel sons &
We live free until we drop!

Sandstorms in Iran/ Queen Nothing

First a dream was faded
With poisonous lips
Ambrosia itself has been tainted
With lies like yours the
Stone Records have been recast in Iron
Finding the truth in you is
Like finding a molecule of sanity
In a sandstorm swept battlefield in Iran
Power chords raging inside in my head
Grinding lyrical power lines; electrified
A million songs left to write
With everything I've left unsaid
If victory was breaking me down, dear
Enjoy it while you can
Cause when the new Universe is risen
You won't be the center of it
You always hated my smiles
I base it all on the evidence
No more circumspect than your
Love, Loyalty, & Intelligence
Fling all your ashes
Blow all that smoke around
Choke all the air from your home
Stomp on the floor
Throw all the tantrums you dare
As distressed as you may be
A damsel you're not
So the White Knight
Ain't in a rescuing mood tonight
You've built your Castle walls on lies & manipulations
So let's see how long till it all crumbles & falls
&
You're the Queen of Nothing
But your own imagination
You should have turned the page
To see what the future would’ve held

The Human Condition

These words
Burn right through me
I feel a soul
That might have been
A proud father
Who might never be at all
All I am
Is carried in these
Overwrought phrases
An Epiphany is just
A temporary state of mind
&
Crying meant nothing
If you've never tasted the tears of another
Fear is as simple dying alone & forgotten
With no one to mourn you

On my own I learned
That Love was a beautiful
Fleeting, and easily broken dream
That truth was more dangerous
Than all other weapons combined
I think of you when
I let all my shields down
&
Expose a beautiful&shattered mind
I think of you
&
Try to convince myself
That it's a false feeling
A moment of failing &
Nothing worth carrying around
Like an albatross & an anchor weight

Girl, I shouldn’t think of you
But I do, oh God how I do
All those other passing placeholders
Are failures compared to the
Barest whisper of your lovely voice
Can't you see darling,
I'm in love with every atom that you breathe?

You didn't ask for it but
Then neither did I
Where do we draw the lines between
Destiny, Faith, Hope, Love, & Pride?
How long has it been
Since you dared look into
My soul searching eyes
I wonder
Are you afraid
Of the passion, the truth, or the price I pay?
The burden only you could take from me
A few hundred years &
When Shakespeare wrote
Of unrequited love
My life could have been his masterpiece
